Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou Novel: Seeing, Walking, Being Glad (Japanese: 小説 ヨコハマ買い出し紀行─見て、歩き、よろこぶ者─) is a novel based on Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, written by Teriha Katsuki (Japanese: 香月 照葉) and illustrated by Hitoshi Ashinano. It was published by Kodansha on 23 October 2008. The novel features an original story, set many years after the events of the manga, and details how an android named Omega leaves his home in search of Cafe Alpha.

Premise

In a town where many people once lived, only Omega, an android, and his creator, Ufumi, remain. Omega, now all alone, sets out for a country in the east to find another android who welcomes visitors with delicious coffee. Eventually, Omega arrives at Cafe Alpha... Set in the future, long after the original story, Omega sees the world through the memories of Alpha and opens the door to another "Yokohama Shopping Trip". A journey of walking and seeing the world.[1]

Main Characters

Omega (オメガ)

Protagonist of the novel and an original creation of the writer, Teriha Katsuki. A young, male android that leaves his home on a journey to find Cafe Alpha.

Alpha (アルファ)

The main character of the Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou manga on which the novel is based.

Notes

  • The novel has not been officially translated into any other languages.
  • Sensei's Mark is used as a section break throughout the novel.
  • Excluding the cover and title page images, the novel contains five black and white illustrations by Ashinano.
  • The novel also contains Chapter 141 of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, which had not been published in tankōbon form at the time of the novel's publication.[2]
